You must be VERY TECH-SAVVY with content management systems (for online publishing), or are so quick to learn new programs that it will be simple for you to teach yourself ours (including some very basic HTML coding). Photoshop and Excel are important, as is skill with digital photography. The ideal candidate understands specialty foods (such as the products sold at Dean & DeLuca, Eli’s, Balducci’s, etc.), loves to proofread, has excellent organization skills, likes to cook, can come up with ideas for readers, is very focused and efficient, and is comfortable working in a small office without supervision. Initial compensation is $28,000; promotable. The editorial assistant will write, plan and edit articles, discover new foods, acquire products from manufacturers, arrange tastings, potentially write a blog and review cookbooks. Send your resume, an unedited writing sample (journalism or business writing as opposed to creative writing), the three specialty food products you might like to review for THE NIBBLE, and the food web sites or blogs that you like (why do they stand out to you/why do you spend your time there as opposed to elsewhere?)
